SERC Trainees Take Top Spots in SkillBuild Intercampus Event
Students from South Eastern Regional College campuses in Downpatrick, Lisburn and Newtownards competed in the SkillBuild intercampus event. The Construction Industry Training Board and WorldSkills oversaw the competition. Participants entered categories including carpentry, joinery, cabinet making, bricklaying, plastering, wall and floor tiling, plumbing, electrical installation and fire and security.
Ellee Carnochan, an 18-year-old Level 2 trainee from Newtownabbey at the Lisburn campus, secured first place. Odhran Murray, a 19-year-old Level 2 traineeship student in plastering from Dunmurry at Lisburn, took second place.
Sponsors provided prizes for first, second and third places. These included Denis Wilson of Glenavy, Makita, JP Corry, MacBlair, Jim's DIY Lisburn, DE Services Lisburn and Fernox.
Top performers from intercampus events at further education colleges across Northern Ireland advance to the SkillBuild NI regional competition. That event takes place at Southern Regional College's Greenbank campus on 19 May 2026.
