Members of the Kells, Connor & Glenwherry Angling Club carried out a river clean-up on a stretch of the Kells Water River on Saturday, February 28. The event resulted in the removal of more than 20 bags of rubbish, four car tyres, a bike, two road signs, a set of ladders and other waste from the river and its banks.

Eighteen volunteers participated in the clean-up, including junior members of the club. The waste was processed with assistance from Waveney Recycling Yard.

Mid and East Antrim Borough Council supported the initiative, with Councillor Matthew Warwick attending and participating in the work.

The club described the event as its first river clean-up day.
