A 22-year-old man will appear at Belfast Magistrates' Court charged with possessing a Class A drug with intent to supply. Police from the Organised Crime Branch made the arrest during a house search in east Belfast on 26 February. The Public Prosecution Service will review the charges as standard procedure.

Officers recovered about 1.5 kilograms of suspected cocaine along with suspected cannabis, cash and additional items. The man also faces charges for other drug offences and possessing criminal property.

An 18-year-old woman arrested at the same time on suspicion of related offences received police bail pending further investigation. Initial suspicions against both included possession of Class A and B drugs, possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and holding criminal property.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland targets drug supply networks to keep controlled substances off local streets.
