Sinn Féin seeks ministerial answers after Donaldson sentencing
Sinn Féin has submitted urgent oral questions to three Northern Ireland Executive departments following the sentencing of Jeffrey Donaldson for child rape and sexual abuse.
Chief Whip Sineád Ennis said the party's first thoughts were with the victims, whose bravery in coming forward ensured Donaldson faced justice.
The questions were directed to The Executive Office, Education, and Communities departments, each focusing on a different aspect of the case's aftermath.
The Executive Office question asks what steps have been taken to support victims and survivors of sexual abuse and how that support is incorporated into the Ending Violence Against Women and Girls Framework.
Sinn Féin also wants the Education Minister to clarify whether any safeguarding concerns arose from Donaldson's involvement in schools or on school boards of governors.
A third question to the Communities Minister seeks stronger regulation for charities, specifically referencing the Christian Family Centre in Armoy, around the reporting of sexual abuse allegations.
Ennis said it was vital that lessons are learned to help tackle violence against women and girls.
