Group Organisers Invited to Explore Navan Centre & Fort at Armagh Open Day
Group organisers and tour planners gathered at Navan Centre & Fort for an open day aimed at showcasing the heritage attraction and the wider tourism offerings of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough.
The event was hosted by the council's tourism team and attended by representatives from community groups, clubs, associations, retirement groups, special interest groups, and coach tour operators.
Deputy Lord Mayor Alderman Lavelle McIlrath welcomed attendees and encouraged them to consider Navan Centre & Fort for future outings. He stated that the centre offers visitors a unique opportunity to step back in time and experience the stories, heritage, and traditions that have shaped the area for centuries. He added that whether groups are interested in history, culture, food, shopping, or simply a day out, the borough has something for everyone, and he encouraged organisers to discover Navan and the many attractions and hospitality across the area.
Navan Centre & Fort, located just outside Armagh City, presents a blend of history, myth, and archaeology. Group visits can include interactive exhibitions, storytelling, guided tours, and exploration of the landscape associated with Ireland's ancient past. The site brings to life the stories of Emain Macha, the legendary seat of the Kings of Ulster, through immersive experiences connecting visitors with heritage, myths, and traditions.
Attendees also learned about other tourism experiences in the borough, including guided walking tours, museums, galleries, food and drink, shopping, gardens, genealogy, arts and culture, and seasonal events.
Group tourism is seen as important for supporting the local economy and sustaining jobs. Those interested in arranging group visits can contact the tourism team by email.
