A Tyrone apprentice has been recognised among the UK's leading young professionals in the bathroom industry.

Aidan Mellon, who works for Classic Marble (Showers) Ltd in Ballygawley, was awarded a Highly Commended accolade at the Bathroom Association's Thirty Under Thirty Awards. He was the only representative from a Northern Ireland company to be recognised at this year's ceremony, held during the association's annual conference in Birmingham.

The awards celebrate under-30s who have demonstrated exceptional commitment, leadership, innovation and potential within the industry.

Mellon is undertaking a Higher-Level Apprenticeship in Business at South West College in Omagh. He joined Classic Marble two years ago and works four days a week in the family-run business while attending college one day per week.

Classic Marble has manufactured bathroom products since 1984.

Managing Director Christopher Hackett said the company was proud of Mellon's achievement, adding that investing in young people is important to the firm.
