Complaints against police in the Fermanagh and Omagh policing district dropped by 40 percent during the 2025/26 financial year, according to the Police Ombudsman's Annual Statistics Report.

The district recorded 115 complaints, down from 191 in the previous year. This was the largest decrease in any policing district in Northern Ireland.

Compared to the average of the previous four years, complaints were down 32 percent in Fermanagh and Omagh.

In contrast, the Derry City and Strabane district saw an 18 percent increase in complaints compared to the previous year, and a 9 percent increase compared to its four-year average.

The Mid Ulster district recorded a 15 percent fall in complaints for the year, and an 18 percent drop compared to its four-year average.

Across Northern Ireland, the most common allegations against police were failure in duty, oppressive behaviour, and incivility.

Of complaints dealt with by the Ombudsman's office, 43 percent were subject to a full investigation. In 15 percent of those cases, evidence substantiated all or part of the complaint or identified another concern.

The Ombudsman recommended prosecution of a police officer in 12 instances during the year, and recommended disciplinary or performance action in 196 cases.
