Work has begun on a £300,000 upgrade to the back pitch at Falls Park in west Belfast. The project is intended to support Newhill FC and the local community.

The existing facilities will be improved, including new spectator fencing, catch nets, home and away dugouts, changing facilities, and hard-standing pathways for spectators.

The investment is designed to help Newhill FC achieve intermediate status, with the improved infrastructure supporting the club's youth and senior sections.

West Belfast MLA Aisling Reilly said the project is a major investment in the future of the club and local young people. She noted that Newhill FC provides opportunities for young people to get involved in football and be part of a local team.

Reilly said the investment is about more than football, providing safe, quality facilities in the community and supporting young people's development. She commended the club's work and recognised councillors Micheal Donnelly and Ronan McLaughlin for their roles in advancing the project.
