Three men were arrested in Moygashel, County Tyrone, on Tuesday 25 August as part of an investigation into an offensive display placed on a bonfire in the village in July.

Mid Ulster District Commander Superintendent Peter Stevenson confirmed that officers searched a number of properties in the Moygashel area on Tuesday morning. The men, aged 27, 38 and 51, were detained on suspicion of offences under Article 9 of the Public Order (Northern Ireland) Order 1987.

All three remained in police custody on Tuesday.

The investigation concerns material placed on a bonfire in July that was described by police as a hate display. The display included a model of a mosque.

Superintendent Stevenson said the investigation into the placing of offensive materials on the bonfire continues.

One man previously arrested in July in connection with the same incident has been charged and has appeared in court.
