A 55-year-old woman from Ballynahinch has pleaded guilty to breaching a lifetime anonymity order by publishing a social media post that could identify a victim in the Jeffrey Donaldson child sex abuse case.

Donna Toman, of Lord Moira Park, appeared at Downpatrick Magistrates' Court on Monday and admitted the charge. The offence was committed on 26 June this year.

The two women at the centre of the Donaldson trial, referred to as Complainant A and Complainant B, are entitled to lifelong anonymity. Donaldson was convicted in June of 18 sexual offences, including one count of rape, committed against the women when they were children between 1985 and 2008.

The former DUP leader and MP for Lagan Valley is appealing his convictions and is due to be sentenced in September.

District Judge Peter Magill described the breach as a serious offence. He ordered a pre-sentence report to be completed by 12 October.

The court heard that the maximum penalty for the offence is six months' imprisonment. Judge Magill told Toman he was not making any promises about the sentence and would await the report.
