Education Minister Paul Givan has congratulated students across Northern Ireland who received A level, AS level and other Level 3 qualifications this results day. The minister visited Friends' School Lisburn, where 98.9 per cent of students achieved grades A* to E.

Givan said the grades reflect effort, resilience and self-belief. He wished students well as they move into further or higher education, apprenticeships, training or employment. He advised anyone whose results fell short not to feel defined by a single set of results, and to consult their school or college about options.

The minister thanked teachers, school leaders and support staff for their guidance and encouragement, saying their dedication contributes to school communities across Northern Ireland.

The results include A and AS levels as well as Level 3 BTEC qualifications. Northern Ireland operates an open market for qualifications, so schools and colleges may offer A and AS levels from awarding organisations such as AQA, OCR, Pearson and WJEC, provided they satisfy Department of Education standards. The majority of A and AS levels taken in Northern Ireland are CCEA qualifications.

CCEA is operating a results helpline for advice and guidance. On results day, Thursday 13 August, the helpline opened at 8:00 am. From Friday 14 August until Wednesday 26 August, it will operate Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Queries can be directed to 028 9026 1260 or helpline@ccea.org.uk, with further support online.
