A planning application has been submitted to Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council to convert a stone barn on Drumcroone Road, Killykergan, Coleraine, into two self-catering holiday units.

The barn sits on an agricultural holding that is part of the applicants' working family farm. It originally provided accommodation for farm workers from the 1960s and later served as temporary living quarters while the current owners built their family home.

In recent years the residential portion fell into disrepair, and the entire building is now used for general storage. The planning statement notes the structure remains sound and retains its traditional character.

The proposal would convert the existing first floor into two one-bedroom units. One unit would be created by refurbishing the former living quarters, while the other would be formed from the remaining first-floor space.

The development is aimed at couples, walkers, and visitors seeking countryside breaks. The applicants argue the conversion would sensitively reuse a traditional rural building and support local tourism.
