Fermanagh Obituaries: Mona Balfour and Letitia Birney
Two women from Fermanagh have died, with funeral arrangements announced.
Mona Balfour, 100, died peacefully at the South West Acute Hospital on Sunday, June 21. A resident of Moynaghan North in Lisnarick, she celebrated her 100th birthday in March at Tilery Nursing Home, where she received a card from King Charles and a letter from Irish president Catherine Connolly. Mrs Balfour was originally from Cavan, grew up outside Kesh with her grandmother, and married Percy Balfour in 1951. The couple moved to Lisnarick in 1957. She is survived by her son-in-law Rodney and granddaughter Louise. The family have asked for privacy, stating that the family home and funeral will be strictly private.
Letitia Birney, known as Letty, died peacefully at her home in Edenclaw, Ederney. Her funeral will take place on Friday, June 26 at Ballycassidy House Funeral Home, followed by burial in Sydare Cemetery. Friends and neighbours are invited to meet the family at Ballycassidy on Thursday, June 25 between 6pm and 8pm. Mrs Birney is survived by her five children, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
