DUP MP Gregory Campbell has marked 50 years since the murder of Police Reservist Linda Baggley.

Baggley, aged 19, was killed by the Provisional IRA in Londonderry on 2 June 1976. She was the first female police officer murdered during the conflict.

Her father, William Baggley, also a Police Reservist, had been killed by terrorists in the same area two years earlier.

Campbell said the family had suffered a devastating loss and that the peace enjoyed today came at enormous cost.

He tabled an Early Day Motion noting the anniversary and calling on political representatives to state that the murders were wrong and cannot be justified.

Campbell said Linda Baggley's courage should be remembered and that history must not be rewritten.
