Jeremy Marshall, 44, from Clarawood Park in Belfast, received an eight-month prison sentence at Belfast Magistrates Court for assaulting his ex-partner.

Marshall pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault. The incidents occurred on August 1, 2025, and January 25 this year.

In the first attack, Marshall punched the woman in the back of the head as she descended stairs. She fell and sustained bruising to her hip.

On the second occasion, in the early hours, Marshall punched her three times on the nose.

Defence barrister Michael Boyd stated that Marshall accepts responsibility for his actions and has no prior criminal record. Boyd noted the couple is now separated and Marshall understands he must avoid contact with her.

District Judge Anne Marshall imposed the sentence and a three-year restraining order prohibiting all contact with the woman.
