UNISON Hosts Meeting in Enniskillen on Classroom Assistants' Conditions
UNISON will host a meeting in Enniskillen to address pay and working conditions for classroom assistants in Northern Ireland schools.
The event takes place at 7pm on Thursday, April 23 at Fermanagh House.
The union seeks secure contracted employment, fair pay, accurate job descriptions, and terms that match the roles classroom assistants perform.
UNISON wants recognition of these workers as key school staff alongside teachers, plus better access to professional development and career paths based on qualifications and experience.
The group also calls for classroom assistants' involvement in reforms to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities provision, using their expertise to shape future models.
UNISON has presented these issues to the Education Authority, Department of Education, and Northern Ireland Executive.
