Western Trust Buys Fintona Medical Practice Premises in Tyrone
The Western Health and Social Care Trust purchased the premises of Fintona Medical Practice in Tyrone from retired GP partners. The Trust took over the contract for the practice on April 1, 2024.
Dr Maura O'Neill, Director of Community and Older Peoples Services at the Western Trust, stated that acquiring the premises ensures GP services continue locally for community access.
Since April 2024, the Trust maintained daily operations and added services such as a women's health clinic and joint injection clinics.
The purchase uses capital funding from the Department of Health's Primary Care Infrastructure Development programme. This provides the Trust flexibility to develop primary care and other services in the area.
Plans include multi-disciplinary teams with physiotherapists, mental health practitioners and social workers alongside GPs and practice staff.
A Trust spokeswoman said the action supports rural communities by keeping primary care local and aligns with vision planning for health services in Fermanagh and West Tyrone.
