Gordon Harper, aged 91 and a resident of Foylefold retirement village in Derry's Waterside area, experienced a leak in his Radius home after noticing cracks above his window two years ago.

The cracks developed into a leak that affected his health. He lost weight, faced sleep and eating issues, and reported having a breakdown. A doctor noted he was underweight after losing a stone and a half.

Harper contacted Radius multiple times about the leak but saw no significant action until recently.

A Radius spokesperson confirmed contractors visited the property this week to address the issue. An initial roof repair occurred in August last year, but further checks showed the problem extended to more roof areas.

Additional work on the overhanging roof structure requires specialist equipment and suitable weather. Radius stated these repairs are scheduled for completion in coming weeks and they will engage with Harper to resolve the matter fully.

Following media enquiries, three men visited Harper's home to photograph the damage. Harper plans to write to every member of the Radius committee board about his experience.
