Enniskillen Businesswoman and Disability Advocate Secures Double Nomination for National Awards
Shelley Cowan, a businesswoman and disability advocate from Enniskillen, received a nomination for the Positive Role Model Award for Disability at the National Diversity Awards 2026. Her organisation, JustUs, also earned a nomination.
Cowan founded JustUs, a volunteer-led not-for-profit group that creates inclusive social spaces for adults with disabilities. She established Access Avenue International Limited to assist organisations in adding accessibility to their services and environments.
She currently develops Travel Ease, a platform for user-led accessible travel solutions. Cowan serves as Northern Ireland's first Purple Tuesday Ambassador and advises the Accessible Hospitality Alliance on tourism and hospitality accessibility.
The awards ceremony takes place on 18 September 2026 at Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral. Public voting remains open on the National Diversity Awards website.
