Students from St Mary's University College Belfast and Stranmillis University College took part in a professional learning event for their PGCE programme.

The session started with introductions and presentations. Students from each campus described their experiences in the programme. This allowed for discussion and reflection between the two institutions.

Participants completed an Essentials of Paediatric First Aid course provided by Health Matters. The training covered skills for emergency first aid on infants and children. It included responses to common childhood illnesses and emergencies.

Students worked in workshops during the programme. The activities helped them build connections and stressed partnership and collaborative practice. The event prepares them for primary school teaching roles.

Students rated the shared learning experience highly.
