A delegation from Pázmány Péter Catholic University in Budapest visited St Mary's University College in Belfast. Members met with College Principal Professor Finn to discuss shared priorities and potential cooperation areas.

Talks centered on Catholic higher education's role in society and initial teacher education developments across European institutions. The delegation included Dr Bence Tamássy, Head of the Central Office for Foreign Affairs; Mr Tamás Hógenburg, Head of the International Office at the Faculty; and Dr habil. Michael McAteer, Associate Professor in the Institute of English and American Studies.

Professor Gerard McCann, St Mary's International Coordinator, arranged the three-day programme. Visitors explored options for collaboration in international education, research exchange, and Erasmus+ mobility.

Associate Professor Michael McAteer gave a session in the college's Inspiring Insights lecture series for Liberal Arts students. He shared details of his academic career, research interests, and work on nineteenth-century political and literary links between Ireland and Hungary.

The presentation covered transnational intellectual exchanges and mutual influences on political and cultural movements in both countries. Students took part in a question-and-answer session afterward.

The group toured the St Mary's campus and met staff and students. They viewed ongoing campus changes and learned about the college's focus on Catholic education, teacher training, and community involvement.

Professor Finn stated that the institutions share commitments to education, research, and international cooperation in a Catholic context. He noted potential for partnerships benefiting students and communities.
