New Bus Shelter Installed on Blacks Road in West Belfast
Translink has installed a new bus shelter on Blacks Road in West Belfast. Local representatives hope it marks the start of additional shelters in the area.
West Belfast has numerous bus stops but few shelters at present. Constituents have raised concerns about waiting in rain for buses to work or school. Elderly and disabled residents face challenges standing for extended periods without cover.
Sinn Féin MLA Órlaithí Flynn welcomed the Blacks Road shelter. She noted ongoing efforts with Translink and the Department for Infrastructure for shelters on Suffolk Road and Glen Road.
People's Alliance Councillor Matt Garrett stated residents directly requested the shelter. He described Blacks Road as a key route connecting major transport corridors and bus lines. Garrett added that Translink has replaced or upgraded several shelters in recent years.
