Mathew Hume, 38, of Men's Hostel on Utility Street in Belfast, appeared at Craigavon Magistrates Court on March 11 for breaching two community-based probation orders.

Hume received convictions for possessing a Class C drug and a Class A drug on June 25 of the previous year. The court issued a Combination Order requiring him to reside in the Portadown area, notify his probation officer of address changes, maintain contact, and complete 60 hours of community service within 12 months.

He failed to comply by not keeping in touch with his supervising officer, not notifying a change of address, and not performing the community service.

His barrister stated that Hume lived a chaotic lifestyle during that time, including homelessness, sofa surfing in Ballyclare, and lack of phone contact. The barrister noted that Hume has resided in a Belfast hostel since late November and shows signs of improvement with better organization and a new phone.

District Judge Michael Ranaghan revoked the probation orders and resentenced Hume. For Class A possession, Hume received four months in jail, suspended for 18 months. For Class C possession, he received two months concurrent, also suspended for 18 months.
