Newcastle ADHD Hub Launches Social Café Amid Funding Concerns
The ADHD Hub in Newcastle launched its Neurodiverse Social Café on Monday. The event featured board games, arts and crafts, and card games including Connect 4 and Snakes and Ladders.
Callum McAuley, a long-term supporter and member of the organisation, conceived the café.
Janet Ward founded the ADHD Hub in 2017. The hub includes a café staffed by young volunteers who gain life skills.
The organisation faces funding uncertainty. National Lottery funding due next month will provide three months of support.
Ward stated that she and other volunteers worry constantly about covering bills. She expressed fear that funds might run out without sufficient new income.
Ward called on the community to support the café. She noted the dedication of customers and supporters.
