The Law Society of Northern Ireland organised a conference at Crumlin Road Jail in Belfast to mark International Women's Day on 6 March 2026.

The event gathered professionals from the legal field and public sector. Keynote speaker Judith Gilliespie CBE, former PSNI Assistant Chief Constable, addressed attendees. Sessions covered topics such as experiences of women in law, collaboration in partnerships, and mentoring programs.

Law Society President Mark Borland noted the conference celebrated the first anniversary of the society's Women's Network. He stated the network has held multiple events across Northern Ireland. These events focused on leadership, career advancement, confidence, resilience, and wellbeing for women solicitors.

Borland added the network grew to nearly 400 members within a year. He credited its development to members' contributions of time and expertise, along with society funding.
