Nathan Carter Duets with Sense Northern Ireland Service User at Belfast Charity Gala
Nathan Carter performed three songs at the Sense Northern Ireland 40th Anniversary Gala held at the Hilton Hotel in Belfast on Friday, 27 February. He sang his hit 'Wagon Wheel' alongside Aoife, a 31-year-old Belfast resident with complex needs who has used Sense services for over a decade.
Aoife attends Sense day services in Carrickfergus. She expressed enjoyment in interacting with staff and performing with Carter.
Carter described the event as a highlight of the year and praised Aoife's performance. The gala raised £36,000 to support the charity's services, including its transitions programme for young people aged 14-23 moving from childhood to adulthood.
Other performers included Jamie, 28, who danced with Carter and stays in Sense supported living in Belfast; Alex, 39, who lives in a Sense residential service in Belfast and took part in a Q&A and comedy act; and Dean, 21, who attends Sense day services in Carrickfergus and performed a British Sign Language version of a song.
The Smith Brothers group also performed at the event. Sense Northern Ireland supports disabled children and adults with complex needs across the region. Sense Hub Belfast on Annadale Avenue offers day centres, arts, sports programmes and play sessions.
