Pauline Gallagher, 62, from Drumlamph Road in Castledawson, faces charges related to the ill-treatment of a patient at Muckamore Abbey Hospital. The charge stems from an incident on September 12, 2017.

The case appeared at Antrim Magistrates Court, which sat in Ballymena. The court sent the matter to Antrim Crown Court for arraignment on April 14. Gallagher received continuing bail set at £500.

Several other individuals have been charged in connection with alleged incidents at the hospital. A defence lawyer described the charges as part of the largest adult safeguarding investigation in Northern Ireland history.
