Foot Anstey McKees has hired Richard McLaughlin as a legal director in its Belfast office. McLaughlin specialises in hospitality and licensing matters.

McLaughlin has over 25 years of experience advising clients in the hospitality, leisure, and licensing sectors. His work includes obtaining the liquor licence for the 153rd Open golf tournament at Royal Portrush last summer. He represents operators of prominent Northern Ireland venues and handles site openings, licensing applications, acquisitions, disposals, enforcement, and operational guidance.

His practice covers independent businesses and larger groups, with emphasis on expansion, transitions, and mergers. McLaughlin joins the hospitality and leisure division to collaborate with legal directors Linus Murray and Andrea McCann.

Chris Ross, partner and head of the Belfast office, stated that McLaughlin's hiring bolsters the firm's hospitality services. Ross noted recent expansion in the division and plans to gain more market share. The addition supports integrated advice on property, corporate matters, and renewables.

McLaughlin expressed satisfaction in joining the firm during its expansion phase. He highlighted its reputation, teamwork, talent investment, and focus on advancing hospitality and licensing services.
